Grethe Kausland who represented Norway in the 1972 Eurovision song contest with Benny Borg died this afternoon of lung cancer. She was one of the most loved Norwegian artists whose career started already at the age of five. �Lille Grethe� was also a cabaret artist, actress and imitator besides singer.

“This is a huge loss for all her family, friends and anyone she brought happiness to, that means all of us” says Jørg Fr. Ellertsen, who worked with Grethe since 1972. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and had an operation but this autumn her condition rapidly got worse.

Her recording career started already in 1955 when her first single Teddyen min” sold over 100.000 copies. She also starred in several films in 1957-1965 as Lille Grethe and continued her career later as an actress both in films and TV. She has performed all sort of music and was considered a very talented jazz vocalist.

In 1972 she represented Norway in the Eurovision song contest in Edinburgh with Benny Borg performing Småting gaining 14th place.
