Hungary seeks the song for Belgrade

The Hungarian National Television (MTV) is introducing an open competition for the selection of the song which will represent the country at the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Serbia.The national final will be held on 8th February 2008.

On 8thFebruary 2008, Hungarian National Television will be choosing a song to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade by means of professional jury and televoters. The songs to take part in the live broadcast will pass through a preselection procedure. The conditions of enteringthe preselection are mostly the same as the usual Eurovision Song Contest rules.

MTV specifies that the eligible candidates must have released some records earlier or have a valid contract with a record label.

The deadline for the submission of entries expires at 2 pm on December 12, 2007. A special jury appointed by MTV will select the entries that will proceed to the country's final, the winner on the night of the final will be decided by a mixture of jury vote and televote.

Last May in Helsinki the country was represented by Magdi Rúzsa with the song Unsubstantial blues;Magdi came 9th with 128 points. She was also granted the Best Composer Award which is given to the bestlyricist among the Eurovision songauthors every year.
