Last year, esctoday.com launched the annual esctoday.com awards. The scheme captured the hearts and minds of the Eurovision Song Contest community, international media, singers and record companies. Almost 18,000 people cast their votes. The 2007 Awards nominations are now being prepared and next week, the nominees will be announced.

esctoday.com is the largest independent Eurovision Song Contest website. We believe in giving a voice to the readers and fans of the best music competition in the world! After the huge success of the 2006 awards, members of esctoday.com will now have the chance to vote on a series of awards covering the year of 2007. We have added categories for 'lyricist of the year' and 'best entry not to qualify from the semi final' as well as a section for the Eurovision Dance Contest.

There was genuine excitement as Tornero won the 2006 song of the year award in a tight battle where the lead changed hands almost daily in the final week of voting. Mihai beat Carola’s invincible by a single vote. Winners were presented with special certificates, some were able to be presented on television or in front of local media.

Mihai was presented with his award live on television during a visit to Malta, a special ceremony was held in Sweden for national broadcaster, SVT, who picked up the National final of the year award for the Swedish media and our partner website of the year award was presented on television in Cyprus during the Eurovision preview shows on RIK 1. BWO picked up their awards in a presentation in London.

You can see the full results from 2006 here.

Now, all eyes turn to the 2007 escotoday.com awards. This year, they will be even bigger and better. Voting will begin on 23rd November and will remain open until December 23rd. Once again, we will announce the winners on Christmas Eve, December 24th. The polls for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest awards will open the day after the event.
