Up to now the only way to vote for the acts in the Swedish Melodivestivalen process to select their song for Eurovision has been by using the phone numbers that appear on the screen during the show.
This is about to change as a new mobile app has been launched. As written about on the svt.se/melodifestivalen site this is to give the viewers at home a feeling that they are closer to the show.
Christel Tholse Willers is the director of this years event and explained that the app can be used at no cost during the live performance of each song. The process will show how friends, and others around Sweden, are voting.
The idea is that the people will feel empowered and that they have a greater influence. Five votes will be allowed for the song as it is being broadcast.
It was further revealed that There will be a small heart in the bottom left corner that displays an indication of the intensity, ie, how many are there who simultaneously press and vote with the app
How to download the app
It appears that you need to be situated in Sweden as the app did not feature when searched for outside the country. If you are living there you need a smartphone or a tablet. The app is available for download in the App Store, Google Play and Windows Phone Store starting from 4 February 2015.
