This article will be constantly updated.
The show has started moments ago. At the beginning you can enjoy a pretty artistical song and dance performance (Baby). The half-nakeddancerswith their large boas are surely an eye-catcher but nevertheless they are not in the running for representing Bulgaria in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.
The jury members are now introduced followed by videos of famous Eurovision Song Contest contestants: Ruslana (Ukraine 2004), No Name (Serbia & Montenegro 2005), Hari Mata Hari (Bosnia & Herzegovina 2006) and Elitsa & Stoyan (Bulgaria 2007 – the first Bulgarian contestants that reached the final!).
After a long interview with the jury members, there is another video with former Eurovision Song Contest participants: Dana International (Israel 1998), Boris Novkovic (Croatia 2005),Nox (Hungary 2005), Hayko (Armenia 2007) and Marija Serifovic (Serbia 2007). After some more talking and a performance by local star Emilia, videos of Mihai Traistariu (Romania 2006), Dima Bilan (Russia 2006), Texas Lightning (Germany 2006)and Bonaparti.lv (Lativa 2007) are shown. There is a discussion about the best languagefora song contest entry.
Finally it's time for the first song!
1. Sky – Samo teb obicham
Samo teb obicham is a typical pop-rock song with no obvious hook. The band is casually dressed which might also not help to create lasting impressions.
2. Krasimira Slavova – Iskam tvoite usmivki
The singer is backed by four women who are – just like her – wearing white ballet skirts and white leather boots. There is a dance routine which is mainly based on weaving the arms but fits well with the pretty simple but kinda catchy pop song.
3. Katrin – Tseluni noshtta
The song starts as a ballad: Katrin (wearing not much more than a bikini) is playing the piano while a white angel is holding her microphone. Tseluni noshtta now turns to a up-tempo song and the stage performance becomes pretty chaotic – another angel joins the stage and the supposed dance routine seems very unorganised.
4. Svetozar Hristov & Magdalena Dzhanavarova – Lonely world
It's the first song by a duo and the first song performed in English. So far, Lonely world stands out of the songs presented tonight since it's an electric disco song. The vocals are very strong – nevertheless, the couple should have probably put more effort in choosing their outfits.
5. Dimitar Atanasov – Koj sam az
The first male soloist of the evening gives an average vocal performance. It's another pop-rock song but the overall impression is very unspectacular.
6. Mariyana – Moonlight
Moonlight is a rock song with some oriental elements which are also reflected in the singer's outift wich reminds of a belly dancer dress. The vocals are very impressive, especially regarding the fact that there are no background singers. Probably the most confident and professional performance so far.
That's it! Now we have to wait until 28th October for the results to be announced.
