The first semi final of the Icelandic selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest took place tonight. Three singers performed one songs each and the winner was chosen by televoting: Gudmundur Jonsson will take part in the national final on 16th Febraury with his song Gef mér von.

The singer will be joined by another ten over the next weeks and a wildcard entrant from the second chance round.

- Margrét Kristin Sigurdardóttir – Game over
- Gudmundur Jonsson – Gef mér von(Give me hope)
