1964 Luxembourg entrant Hugues Aufray released a CD album which 15 new songs, under the title “Hugh !”, a pun with the usual American Indian “word”. Although aged 78, the French singer is still very active, both on recording and on touring.

A funny coincidence made that Hugues Aufray opens the 1964 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Dès que le printemps revient (When spring comes back), on the first day of Spring, in 1964 (March, 21st). The entry placed 4th and was a big success in French-speaking countries.

Born in1929, Hugues records his first songs only at the age of 30. Along the 60's and the 70's, he had a big number of hits, which are still known by everyone. Three years ago, one of them, Santiano, was actually covered by the contestants of a "Star Academy" season.

Tonight, duringthe On n'a pas tout dit TV show on France 2, the viewers were reminded of an old anecdote that would be particularly interesting to Eurofans. It was said that Céline Dion's parentsactually chose her first name "Céline" after the success of the song by Aufray, "Céline", released in 1966.
