Earlier today, esctoday.com reported on Cypriot national broadcaster's confirmation that the country will return to a national final to select their 2008 Eurovision Song Contest entry. esctoday.com can now reveal that the show is to take place on 12th January 2008.
With such an early date in the calendar, Cyprus will once again be at the forefront of the Eurovision Song Contest songs to be made public next year. It is likely that Cyprus will be the second national final of the year, with Albania's Festival i Kinges expected to take place once again at the end of December 2007.
esctoday.com also spoke to Mike Konnaris, author of Lisa Andreas' 2004 entry Stronger every minute. The entry is Cyprus' most successful Eurovision Song Contest entry to date. Asked if he would be entering the competition, he said it was a definite possibility. Asked about another collaboration with Lisa, he said "I would really love to work with her again, it might be this year, it might be next year, but it is on the cards".
