The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest Countdown Tower was launched today at Viennas’s Rathausplatz, counting the days, the hours, the minutes and seconds leading up to the grand final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
The 8 meter high tower consists of 4 LED Screens showing the countdown up to the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest and other Eurovision related information and will be visible from all 4 sides. The tower also portrays the official 2015 Eurovision Song Contest theme art and motto Building Bridges.
The Countdown Tower weighs 4,900 kg and is completely weatherproof and can withstand wind speeds up to 130 km/h, and has a footprint of about 3 x 3 meters and an active video area of 23.6 square meters.
The Countdown Tower will also feature several other highlights of the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest, apart from the Grand final, the 8 other shows ( 3 family shows, 3 jury finals and Semi-final 1 and Semi final 2).
The countdown to the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has kicked off as thousands of Eurovision fans will be landing in the majestic Austrian capital next May, around 1600 accredited journalists and delegations from 39 countries are expected to arrive in Vienna. Preparations are already in full swing in Austria as ORF, the 2015 Eurovision host broadcaster is working round the clock in order to showcase an extraordinary and entertaining show.
