Pascal Sevran may be involved in the selection of the next Eurovision Song Contest entry for France. Télé 7 Jours reported that France Télévisions might ask Pascal Sevran to be in charge of the French choice for next year's event, it was repeated on radio station Europe 1. esctoday.com spoke to the organisers of the French Selection to find out if the Eurofan is to be involved with selecting France's 2008 entry.
Sevran was quoted this week in planete-vip as saying "I have very good relations with Patrick de Carolis France Televisions manager and he promised me I'll be back on television in January. His proposal is that I could make something new with Eurovision. I don't know. I already did it".
esctoday.comhas been told by France Télévisions that: "Nothing is decided yet, it is too soon, but for sure we will have a big show again. We do not know at this stage if it will be to present a song or a national final. Pascal Sevran is being considered for a role and may be the host of the show."
Sevran used to have a TV show in which singers who have disappeared for a while made their comeback. His weekly show made it possible for eurofans to enjoy many euro-veterans coming and singing their hits. Sevran even produced some special television shows dedicated to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Hehas made it clear that he not a fan of the modern Eurovision Song Contest. He once calledthe French 1990 entryWhite and black blues"crap" in on of his programs! The song tied for second place in Zagreb.
In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Pascal Sevran organized his own Pop idol series called Entrée d'artistes, without any success for the winning artists. In 2006,the four best placed performers won placesin the French national selection process.Virginie Pouchain, won the ticket to Athens. Sevran was said to be "horrified" when heheard the song produced by Corneille for the competition. The song finished second to last at the Eurovision Song Contest in Greece, only winning votes from Monaco.
French fans are hoping that there will be a national final similar to the 2007 event. The show was seen by many to be one of the most modern national finals of recent years, capturing a wide range of modern and popular music in France.
