More than 1000 people have applied to host the 2008 Serbian national final, Beovizija and the Eurovision Song Contest. OGAE Serbia have announced that applicants include many members of the general public, as well as leading actors, singers, models and existing television personalities. More than 400 logo suggestions have also been submitted.

Also in the running after successful applications are Ekstra Nena, who represented Yugoslavia at the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest and Jovan Radomir, who works for Swedish broadcaster, SVT. Radomir read out the Swedish televoting results at the Eurovision Song Contest this year, is of Serbian descent and worked on the remixes of the winning song Molitva with the reigning Eurovision Song Contest champion, Marija Serifovic. Mr. Radomir, who was also a 'roving reporter' for SVT Swedish news at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv said that hosting the show in Serbia would be the highlight of his career.

48 applicants (24 men and 24 women) will be selected by Serbian broadcaster, RTS, and be divided into couples. They will then take part in a reality television show where the public will whittle down the pairs until the hosts for the two shows have been chosen.

Rumours surrounding Ana Invanovic, one of Serbia's best known sporting celebrities and world tennis star appear to be close to the mark. RTS has confirmed contact but that it would be unlikely due to her successes on the tennis court and the proximity to the French Open, one of the most important events of the tennis season.
