Denmark will know their 2008 Eurovision Song Contest entry on 2nd February. DR will be using the same Melodi Grand Prix show format that was used this year to select their entry to the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.
The show will take the same formula as in 2007, with two semi finals of eight songs. The top four will automatically qualify and two wildcards will then be brought back from elimination to participate in the final.
Last year, DQ was eliminated from the semi final before being brought back as a wildcard with the song Drama queen. He went on to win the final, remarkably beating all four semi finalists that finished ahead of him in his semi final! Denmark were unable to reach the Eurovision Song Contest final, however, when DQ failed to reach the top ten in the semi final in Helsinki.
Songs must be submitted to DR by October 10th 2007 for selection and only entries from Danish songwriters or with strong Danish connections will be eligable. No announcements about the venues for the shows have yet been made. Danish partner website, www.esconnet.dk has confirmed with DR that the national final of Melodi Grand Prix will take place on 2nd February 2008 with the semi finals taking place on 18th January and 25th January.
