Belgium's hunt for the next Junior Eurovision Song Contest candidate has begun, as broadcaster Eén announces the official start of the selection process in September.

Fifteen hopefuls will be competing for the chance to represent Belgium in The Netherlands this December; they were whittled down from 895 applications from children between ten and fifteen years of age. Eighty were invited to auditions, and five experts representing each of Flemish broadcaster VRT's channels selected the lucky group of fifteen. Each of these five experts will also act as coach to three of the children along their Eurosong journey.

The introductory show, filmed back in May at Wissekerke Castle near Sint-Niklaas, will be aired on Saturday 8th September. This month, the press will already have its chance to meet the youngsters, at a special press conference on 29th August. From this week, fans will be able to follow news of the selection on the official Junior Eurovision website of Eén.
