Sónia Araújo and Ricardo Silva are the dancers chosen by the Portuguese public broadcaster to represent RTP in London at the first Eurovision Dance Contest. Sónia spoke to esctoday.com and talked about her background as a dancer, her work as a TV-host and the preparations for EDC. Due to agenda issues, Ricardo Silva couldn't be present. He is at the moment competing at the German Open Championship.

Since she was a little girl, Sónia wanted to be a dancer. She became one and ended up doing many shows as a professional dancer until 1996. In 2006, she was the winner of the second edition of Dança Comigo and dancing "came waltzing" back into her life.

Sónia Araújo is a household name for Portuguese TV-viewers. She has been the female co-host of Praça da Alegriafor the past 11 years. The show is broadcast in the mornings and features guests that talk about everyday life issues. Her sidekick is Jorge Gabriel, who was one of the commentators in Helsinki.

Sónia is also considered one of the most beautiful women in Portugal. She feels excited to be at EDC and will practice hard so as to be at the same level with the professional contestants. The team behind the project hasn't fully decided if they will do the jive or the rumba in the first choreography.
