Belgian singer and 1987 Luxembourg contender Plastic Bertrand will release a new CD next October, the official website of the artist announces. This will be the 9th album of Plastic, who celebrates the 30th anniversary of his first single and the 20th of his Eurovision Song Contest participation.

Born in 1954 in Brussels, to a French father and an Ukrainian mother, Plastic Bertrand (real name Roger Jouret) released his first solo single back in 1977. Ca plane pour moi enjoyed a lot of success in many countries, including the UK, which is rare for a non-English language song. This punk-styled song was co-written by Lou Deprijck, a member of Two Man Sound – 1977 Belgian selection, and producer for Viktor Lazlo a few years later.

Plastic's last to date CD was released in 2004, under the title Ultraterrestre… but it didn't score very well in the French-speaking market. Still, the man remains well-known among the great public, not only thanks to his several hits (Ca plane…, Sentimentale-moi, Tout petit la planète, Bambino) but also because he took part in several TV reality programs in Belgium and France. Bertrand's web biography doesn't include a single word on his poor Eurovision experience (21st out of 22 candidates in Brussels, 1987) but reminds that Ca plane pour moi was chosen as Coca-Cola's anthem in Asia in 2006, and that the same song – in its "Presidents of the United States"' version – was Pepsi's motto in North America.
