Last night saw the Dutch National final for the first Eurovision Dance Contest to be held on September 1 in London. Redmond Valk and Alexandra Matteman won both the jury and the televote and they will be the country's first ambassadors to the contest.

Four couples took the floor last night at the studio Baan to be judged by Inge Ipenburg (actress), Mari van de Ven (stylist), Marcus van Teijlingen (dancer) and Wilma Nanninga (journalist). Dennis Kruse and Susanne de Kleijn, Michèle Gleimann and Herman Lak, Anthony van Egmond and Moniek Nieuwenburg and Redmond Valk and Alexandra Matteman were judged on dance, styling, presentation and media skills and the latter won the unanimous approval of both the jury and the televote.

Redmond and Alexandra will be competing next at the German Open in Stuttgart held from August 14 to 17.
