Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Senator and presidential hopeful in the United Sates of America race for the White House has conducted a song contest on her website to find the song that will become the theme of her campaign to become the country's first female president. She has selected You and I by former Eurovision Song Contest winner, Céline Dion.

Senator Clinton, wife of the former President, Bill, ran a competition to find the right song for her campaign and was thrilled with the choice of Céline Dion. The 1988 Eurovision Song Contest winner has become one of the most recognisable women on the planet since winning Switzerland's second victory by a single point ahead of the United Kingdom. She is one of the most respected and successful recording artists in history and has spent four years performing her own show in a multi-million pound arena at the Caesar's Palace hotel in Las Vegas that was built specifically for her.

The song and the choice of singer has raised eyebrows in the patriotic country. "We fully expect jokes about Clinton outsourcing her song — to a French Canadian no less" wrote NBC News blogger Dominico Montenararo.

The Chicago Tribune's political blog suggested alternative songs such as 'Cold as Ice' by Foreigner. And a request for submissions by the Wonkette, a Washington-based political satire website, generated several suggestions for Elton John's 'Bitch is Back,' the Rolling Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil,' Tammy Wynette's 'Stand by Your Man' and the Beatles' 'Fool on the Hill.'
