Varvara, the Russian 2005 and 2006 national final runner up, will be visiting Athens, Greece for a single appearance at the Space Club, on July 7th. The popular singer has already tried her luck twice to get the golden ticket for the Eurovision Song Contest and she is said to be willing to try once more for 2008.

Varvara's music style or rather styles combine a multitude of world music traditions. "Modern music should consist of alternative and symphonic music, ethnics of northern Europe and East, electronics and new age, "flavoured" with actual sound" says Varvara, who has her views set on the international market as well.

Varvara will be performing in Athens on 7 July at the Space Club (100 Kifisou Avenue). Tickets cost €20.

A very special thank you to Anna Krasilnikova for the information.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
