Just as in the rest of the world, piracy is a big problem in Russian music industry. About eighty to ninety percent of all records sold in Russia are illigally produced, according to estimates. Former Russian eurovision entrant Alsou now joins the fight against those pirates.

Due to the piracy, Russian record companies are facing major problems investing in new artists. Many of them are facing bankruptcy. Earlier this week, a concert was held in Gorky park, aimed to fight against the problem. Visitors of this concert were asked to bring fake CD's with them to change them for legitimate products. The illegal CD's were trown onto a pile to be crushed by a bulldozer.

Lead artist at this concert was Alsou.

Alsou has participated the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song 'Solo', she scored 155 poinst and ranked second.
