Today, esctoday.com celebrates it's second birthday. At October 11, 2000 the first edition of esctoday.com appeared online. Although the plan to set up esctoday.com was made in July 2000, it took several months before the design was made, and the domain name was registered.

Sietse Bakker, Chief Editor of esctoday.com, remembers that day very well: “Designing the website took a long time and I was proud to launch it, although I did not realise that time the project would become what it is nowadays. The website was very simple in it's first days and without the assistance of many people it would have been impossible to reach this point”.

Starting with one person, nowadays 25 people from 15 countries work for esctoday.com almost every day. The first day the website attracted 30 visitors, today more than 3000 people check it every day.

Danny Mekic', Technical Chief at esctoday.com, remembers the day he joined the team: “In the first months the design changed many times…maybe even too many times. The enthousiasm changed into professionality since that period. The power of our appearance today is the fact that esctoday.com tries to give the visitor what he or she wants as much as possible”, he says.

About the future, Sietse doesn't want to say a lot: “At this moment we are doing some research to find out what's possible. We are looking at the possibilities to set up an SMS service for Eurovision news and a Eurovision website for kids”, he says.

Without the ongoing support of our visitors, esctoday.com would never become what it is now. On behalf of the whole team, thanks for all support! To thank the most supporting group of visitors (our members), it's possible to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 video with the 24 postcards and the documentary The Making of Eurovision.
