OGAE Italy: OVC 2007 site and schedule

After winning the 4th OGAE Video Contest (OVC) in Izmir last year with Nek's Contramano, Italy is organising the contest this year in Firenze and they have decided to go about it in style. For the first time, a professional site is provided especially for the contest, regularly updated and containing all the necessary information.

In the Video contest, initiated by OGAE Turkey in 2003, local clubs can submit a non Eurovision song video that will be voted in our familiar 1-8, 10, 12 style by the participating clubs. The contest has experienced a decline in interest, dropping to 13 countries last year (plus one withdrawn and one disqualified entry). Nevertheless, OGAE Italy are making an effort starting with a stylish site.

So far OGAE Portugal, Malta, Israel, Italy, Russia, FYR Macedonia, Turkey, Greece and Serbia have confirmed their participation. This is the full OVC schedule:

01 July: Applications deadline
08 July: Draw of the running order
01 September: Submission of videos deadline
01 October: Dispatch of the OVC2007 DVD to the clubs
01 December: Submission of votes deadline
08 December: Announcement of the results

OGAE Italy have produced a postcard and poster for the occasion. Anyone wishing to receive them can do so by sending in their postal address through the OVC site mailbox, here.

If you are interested in joining your local branch of OGAE, write for more information at [email protected], stating the country you live in.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
