Less than one week to go now till the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, the United Kingdom must be eager to see if this year they can finally break their spiral of bad form. Stepping up to the challenge is the group Scooch. They appeared last night on the National Lottery on BBC 1, and then again on BBC 2 and TOTP2 goes Eurovision.
There is a lot of support for the group, similar to Daz Sampson last year, who was predicted to finish in theTop5during therehearsal week by some betting agencies. Scooch haven’t started rehearsals yet, but they are still fairly low on the fans' predicting polls and betting agencies.
Last night saw TOTP2 goes Eurovision at 23:50 on BBC 2, 70 minutes later than scheduled due to the World Championship snooker semi final playing over time. The show is the only onethis year specifically about the contest in leading up to the show from Helsinki, as the BBC airs no previews of any kind, just Making your mind up, the national final.
TOTP2 goes Eurovision featured mainly British entries, but Dana International, Nicole, and ABBA also got played. Cliff Richard, Katrina and the Waves, Sonia, Samantha Janus, Clodagh Rogers, Precious, Sandie Shaw, Live Report, Bucks Fizz, Belle and the Devotions, Love City Groove, Lulu, Bardo, Gina G, and Brotherhood of Man all were being shown. One of their perfomrmances at Top of the Pops was shown, and in some cases (depending on how old it was) their actual Eurovision entry was shown. Trivia appeared on screen during the performance and Steve Wright provided commentary throughout.
The programme finished with Scooch, and their winning performance from Making your mind up. The hope was that it would be the winning entry, come next week.
