Today: Irish Eurovision Previews start

Today at 16:00 (17:00 CET) RTÉ Television, the Irish broadcaster, will be airing the first of two Eurovision 2007 Preview shows on RTÉ 1, the other tomorrow at 15:55 (16:55 CET).

Both programmes will be presented by television commentator Marty Whelan from Helsinki.

The first of the shows will feature 21 of the semi-finalists, while the second features the other seven plus the fourteen finalists.

Also RTÉ gladly reported that the free download of the Irish Eurovision SongContest 2007 entry, They can't stop the spring sung by Dervish has topped 7,000 downloads in just one week alone! Commenting on the download performance RTÉ spokesperson said, "It's been really successful and we've had over 7,000 hits since Friday April 27th and a lot of thatI think is down to the fact you mentioned it on your site, www.esctoday.com"

Plus Michael Flatley, who lead the famous Riverdance performance at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest interval act which went on to be a worldwide phenomenon has contacted Dervish, according to RTÉ in saying: "Dervish are thrilledbecause Michael Flately rang them today to wish them good luck, as he's a big fan of the band. He's convinced that they're going to do brilliantly so the band are really delighted with the call."
