Ilona Berzina, spokesperson at the Latvian broadcaster LTV, said that the Latvian national final will be held at February 1st. The broadcaster wants the national final to take place in the same venue as last year.

This announcement confirms that, besides the organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest, Latvia will also organise a national final to select their own representative at the contest. For some time it was not clear if LTV could afford the costs of a national final in 2003, but it seems to be no problem.

At this moment, LTV is negotiating with the local municipality to organize the event in Ventspils as well as last year.
