A long-term contract has been signed by SVT and Kristian Luuk, this year's Melodifestivalen host and Eurovision Song Contest 2007 commentator for Sweden. Kristian will be hosting a number of shows on Swedish TV including Melodifestivalen 2008.

Kristian will be working with SVT as a host of various shows but he will also assist SVT in the development of many new projects of different genres. According to SVT's new programme director Ann Wegelius Kristian fits exactly the image SVT wants to project as a public service company. That is "a love of entertainment in the broader sense combined with an intelligent and educational approach."

Luuk himself is extremely pleased with the agreement: "I'm happy and honoured", he said, "I have really enjoyed working with SVT, and the Melodifestivalen was the funniest thing I have ever done in my life. This was just the beginning and I feel I have a lot more to offer."

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
