Many names familiar to Eurovision Song Contest fans were to be found in this year's Dejo ar zvaigzni, the Latvian edition of the worldwide popular TV show Strictly come dancing. Marie N, Roberto Meloni (Bonaparti.lt) and last but not least Lauris Reiniks all took part and Lauris danced away with the prize.

The show started on February 4th and continued for ten weeks. Each week a pair, consisting of a popular Latvian artist and a professional ballroom dancer, was voted home. Marie N, the Eurovision 2002 winner, finished third, Roberto Meloni, this year's participant with Bonaparti.lv finished fifth. Lauris Reiniks, who represented Latvia at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest as member of FLY, won last night's final together with partner Alexandra Sacha Kurusova. A total of 103.000 votes were received, which is considered a record number by Latvian standards.

Bonaparti.lv were present as well to perform Questa Notte, this year's Latvian entry for Helsinki.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
