Greece debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and has won the competition in 2005 with Helena Paparizou’s My number one. Thus bringing the contest on Greek soil and successfully hosting the event in Athens in 2006.

Greece has enjoyed massive success in the Eurovision Song Contest in the last decade accomplishing excellent results, achieving a total of 10 TOP 10 results since 2001, including a victory in 2005. Greece has competed in the Eurovision  final every year since the semifinals system was introduced in 2004.
