The two success stories in the Swedish showbizz might end up this year. Former Melodifestival participants Friends and Barbados announced to stop their co-operation to “avoid damages to their friendships”.

The two girls and two boys from Friends where brought together in a television show in 1999. In 2000 they participated in the Swedish Melodifestival for the first time with 'När jag tänkar på i morgon'; they ended up second. 'Listen to your heartbeat' had more success. With this song they reached the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001. In 2002 they performed 'The one that you need' at the Melodifestival, without success.

With 'Se mig', Barbados entered the Melodifestival stage for the first time in 2000. Together with Friends they ended up second. In 2001 they ended up second with 'Allt som jag ser' and the fourth place was theirs this year with 'Världen utanför'. Because lead singer Magnus Carlsson wants to have a solo career, manager Bert Karlsson already announced to find a new lead singer.

Karlsson also suggested that a new Friends is possible. It seems to be clear that whatever happens, both groups will appear on the Melodifestival stage in 2003 again.
