Tonight, the German national final was held. During a gala show with many former contestants, three acts presented their entries and the winner is Roger Cicero with Frauen regier'n die Welt. He was chosen by televoting; it was not announced who came second and third.

You can find the esctoday.com live coverage of the show here.

Frauen regier'n die Welt will be the first swing entry for Germany in the contest. Furthermore, it will be the first German entryentirely performed in German since 1998 (the last ever entry performed entirely in German was Du bist by Tie-break for Austria in 2004). The lyrics state that women might sometimes stay in the background, but nevertheless they have their own methods to get what they want:

…"The way they walk and stand
The way they look at you
And yet your bag and your heart get open
And then you buy a ring and a mink

A lascivious look
And yet your policy is changing
No boss and noaction hero
No state and no mafia money
Women rule the world

All the stops from coquettish to naive
Yet as a baby they have coped with their father
They give anything if they want something
And you bang your head against a brick wall when they are sulking

They push Beckham and they overthrew Clinton
Without founding a party…"

The song was composed by Matthias Hass and written by Frank Ramond.

As a big 4 country, Germany is directly qualified for the final in Helsinki.
