What the Estonians did last year, Latvia repeats. A competition for the best logo and slogan for tourism in Latvia recently ended. According to the competition's results, Latvia's new tourism slogan is 'The Land That Sings'.

The logo depicts a waving sea horizon with dancing human figures and the sun. Both the logo and the slogan were developed by artist Ugis Auliks. The principles for selecting the logo demanded that it should be kept as simple as possible, but also be original and significant, Liga Miesniece, the head of the Latvian Tourism Development Agency's marketing department, said that during the presentation of the logo and the slogan.

The word 'sing' noted in the slogan does not denote singing with words as not only people can sing, but also buildings, land, nature and many other things.

As for using the logo and slogan, these marketing instruments will be used in printing tourism booklets on Latvia and making stands for tourism exhibitions, and at other events such as the Eurovision Song Contest.

Overall, 52 draft logos and 20 slogans were submitted to the competition.
