Andorra has had a great surprise in store for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. This is the first time in the history of the contest that the sound of a Californian style teenage punk band will hit the arena. Niki, Alejandro and Gallego will attempt to make it through the semi final of the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest and lead Andorra to its final debut in Helsinki.

Niki, the lead singer, and Gallego, the drummer, formed Anoynymous in 2004. They had a difficult time at first due to financial restraints as well as due to the problem of finding suitable candidates to complete the group. A little later, Alejandro, the lead guitarist, and Cristian, bass, joined. Unfortunately we will not be seeing Cristian in Helsinki as he is too young to meet the EBU minimum age limit.

For the past three years they have strived to make their mark in the Andorran music scene where they are now anything but "anonymous". They currently have their own fan club and a considerable number of teenage followers. Lately they have also been having some media exposure in neigbouring Spain where they give concerts and participate in music festivals.

Anonymous were one of the 80 acts that applied to RTVA for the honor of representing Andorra in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. They were selected unanimously by the 10 member jury and we will be seeing them on May 10 in Helsinki with their song Salvem el món (Let's save the world). The song was specifically written with the Eurovision Song Contest in mind. It is a plea to the young Europeans to take an active role in protecting the environment. And the message will be delivered in the language all young music lovers understand, the language of music. They want to jump, they want to shout, they want to rejoice, they want to revolutionise the contest by force of guitar. They promise a song that "will make even the walls dance"!

Anonymous spoke to esctoday.com about themselves, their song, their hopes and dreams. Click HERE to read the full interview by the boys that "hope to infect us all with their hopes and wishes for a better world".

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
