As we reported earilier, Olivia Lewis' victory in the Maltese final was a landslide. Turns out she trounced her competition in the semi-final as well. Here are some figures from the televote.
As we reported earlier, Olivia Lewis and her song Vertigo earned over half the votes cast in the Maltese final televote. Now we have learned that her win in the semi-final was similarly convincing.
As reported in MaltaMedia, the percentage of televotes breaks down as follows:
- Olivia Lewis – Vertigo 24%
- Trilogy – Starlight 11%
- Klinsman Coleiro – She gives me wings 11%
- Kevin Borg – Whenever 7%
- Pamela – All about a life 7%
- SCAR – As long as you know 7%
These results are nearly identical to the voting in the final. Among the other semi-finalists William Mangion (Forever mine) and Isabelle (My love) were close behind with 10% each – which should have placed them in the final ahead of Kevin, Pamela and/or SCAR. However the finalists were determined by a combined televote and an international jury's scoring. This year's jury included Helle Henning, Trine Dansgaard, John Themis, Jan Van Dijck, Lia Vissi, Savvas Savva and Victor Escudero.
Due to finishing in last place showing in the 2006 final Matla will have to qualify out of this year's semi-final, to be held on 10 May in Helsinki.
