News from Turkey has been scarce lately and there seems to be a good reason for this. Kenan Dogulu, the Turkish singer and musician who will represent his country this year in Helsinki for the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest has asked the Turkish Radio and Broadcasting Union for an extension of the deadline to finish his songs.

After the announcement of his participation, Kenan said that he would send 3 songs to TRT, with Turkish and English lyrics, by 31st of January. "For a better decision I am composing more than 3 songs. I haven't finished my preparations yet. I need one more week" Kenan said. The managers of TRT have reacted positively to the artist's request.

Sponsors line up
Kenan Dogulu is currently receiving numerous sponsorship proposals. While many companies want the famous singer to be Turkey's face in their new commercial campaigns, some others want to organise "university" concerts. Kenan Dogulu, who has not co-operated with any company outside his concert tours for fifteen years, is sceptical about the proposals as he wants to be very careful if he is to associate his name with a particular brand.

Eurovision in his dreams
After his concert during the celebration festivities of the 39th anniversary of The Turkish Radio and Broadcasting Union (TRT), Kenan answered the questions of the journalists and said that he already feels the excitement of the Eurovision song contest: "I see the contest in my dreams. A few times I saw that I was the winner. I hope the dreams will come true". Kenan confirmed that he will perform alone on the stage in Helsinki "Not Hepsi nor any other group will company me during my show" the singer said and added that he would rather not disclose any more information at this point.

Festival The Party
Kenan lovers will have the chance to see him perform live on Valentines Day. The artist will give a concerton 14th of February in the entertainment park Parkorman in Istanbul. The Kenan Dogulu Festival The Party will be organised by BMK. The show promises to be spectacular with a special choreography, high-tech light shows, animations and dance. Tickets cost 75 and 100 YTL and can be bought at www.biletix.com

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
