Tonight, five acts competed in the first semi final of Söngvakeppnin 2014, Iceland’s national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Icelandic public decided to send the following two to the final:
- Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir – Eftir eitt lag (Ásta Björg Björgvinsdóttir & Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir)
- Gissur Páll Gissurarson – Von (Jóhann Helgason)
The second semi final will take place on 8 February where five more acts will compete for the two remaining slots in the final to be held on 15 February.
Iceland will compete in the first half of the first semi-final on 6 May 2014. They debuted in 1986 and their best result to date is second place, both in 1999 and ten years later in 2009. They finished in 17th place last year with the song Ég á líf.
