On 27th January the first five songs to enter the Latvian final were selected. Take off your mask performed by Lenii received 7557 out of 28156 votes and won the semi-final that night. According to Latvian media, Lenii's victory in the semi-final has been a surprise. The catchy andvivid Take Off Your Mask took televoters' hearts by storm.
Lenii became known in Latvia by taking part in Talantu Fabrika (a show like Fame Factory or Idol). Last year she has successfully collaborated with a band called Ziemelvejs thus winning Latvian Schlager Competition.
Devoted Eurovision fans have already noticed Lauris Reiniks. Since 2000 as Latvia entered the Eurovision Contest, there almost has not been a year without either Reiniks' song or appearance in Eirodziesma. He announced Latvian votes on 2000 and 2004. Lauris' songs have taken part in Eirodziesma finals in 2001, 2002, 2003 (winning the Latvian ticket to Eurovision Song Contest with Hello From Mars) and 2007.
