Kate Ryan will perform during the Olympic Games in Russia in February. The singer, who represented Belgium in Eurovision in 2006, was asked by a Russian TV station to perform in the Olympic stadium and at the Olympic village.

Kate Ryan told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws that it is a great honour for her to perform at the Olympics. She explained she was asked by Russian channel Europa Plus TV to perform an exclusive show in the Olympic stadium in Sochi. “At night I will also perform a gig in the Olympic village”, she added.

Kate Ryan’s performance will coincide with the finals of skiing and bobsleigh at the Olympics. For Ryan, the invitation means a nice form of recognition for her career. She explained that she spent quite some time in Russia in recent months. “I performed at private parties and some clubs. I guess they invited me to perform at the Olympics because of that”, she explained.

Kate Ryan represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2006 with the song Je T’Adore. Despite being one of the favourites that year, she finished in the 12th position in the semi-final, which was not enough to qualify for the final.
