The 2013 Swedish co-presenter (in the guise of Lynda Woodruff) and performer at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo last year will be starring as Sally Bowles in a revival of the iconic musical Cabaret in Sweden.

Sarah Dawn Finer has participated at Melodifestivalen in 2007 and 2009. She also co-hosted the event in 2012, the year of Loreen’s historic victory at the Swedish national finals.

It was in 2012 that Dawn Finer introduced us to her alter ego Lynda Woodruff whose comedic presentation and reporting of the Eurovision Song Contest in between intervals at Melodifestivalen 2012 would go on to become part of the actual contest when it went to Malmo in 2013. Sarah was also a contributing performer in the interval of the 2013 contest where she sung a cover of  The winner takes it all by ABBA

Sarah Dawn Finer will now be taking on the legendary role of Sally Bowles in the upcoming Swedish presentation of the musical Cabaret in the spring of 2014 at the Uppsala City Theatre.

Dawn Finer is quoted as saying “I never thought I would be asked to play Sally Bowles, but it is fortunate that times change and that people dare to think a little differently”  The director Ronnie Danielsson also goes on to talk about some of the challenges that Sarah Dawn Finer faced in taking on the role originally made famous by Liza Minnelli in the 1972 Bob Fosse directed film version “I think most people think of a slender dancer who can also sing in this role as Liza Minnelli who won her Oscar for this but I wish that Sarah makes her own interpretation of her”.

We here at esctoday.com are confident a talent such as Sarah Dawn Finer with her flexible vocal prowess will rise to the challenge in her latest musical project giving all  the flair and tenacious vivacity she has approached her previous Melodifestivalen and Eurovision performances so far thus making the role of Sally Bowles very much her own.
