Ines has spoken out about her participation in Eurolaul 2007 in the Estonian newspaper, SlÕhtuleht. In association with escestonia.com, we bring you the translation of the article below. In other Estonia news, two more songs have changed their titles. Soul Militia have renamed their song My place (formerly My face) and Koit Toome has changed his title to Veidi Veel indicating a probable language change with the song now to be performed in Estonian.
Ines said in today's paper that she and her brother Ivo thought long and hard before they promised to participate in Eurolaul 2007. Last year they got second place, and they wanted to leave it so. "We wanted to say no, but the ETV team brought us over,"
Ines said that the idea for this year's song, 'In good and bad', was ready in the summer, but she went to the USA for a longer time than planned; and so, the song was finished last autumn. The base of the song was written by Ivo, Ines then created the melody and wrote the lyrics.
Last year it was said that 'Iseendale' (Ines' entry in Eurolaul 2006) was similar to Coldplay. Ines doesn't agree with, she said that she wasn't even familiar with Coldplay's music. "More likely there were influences from Keane or Radiohead," Ines added. "The songs are similar, beacuse both of the songs are not usual 'Eurovision songs'. We have tried not to make them too 'Eurovision'."
Ines doesn't know if she will participate again next year. "On the other hand it's fun – you can meet other musicians," Ines says. "Last year was more stressful because there was a long break. But this time we are taking it easy and sober-mindedly."
After Eurolaul Ines will pack her suitcases again and fly back to New York, where she lives with her partner Martin Saar. After returning to America she will start studying acting – after a long search she has finally found a suitable school.
Estonia will need to qualify from the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final in Helsinki on May 1oth after Sandra Oxenryd missed out on a top ten finish in the 2006 semi final.
