Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, has participated 45 times and is one of the "Big Four" (along with France, Germany and the United Kingdom), and therefore automatically participates in the final because they are the four biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union. Spain has won the contest twice, first in 1968 with the song La, la, la sung by Massiel and second one year later, sung by Salomé with the song Vivo Cantando.
