What do you do if you really want to enter your countrys national final, but year after year you get all your songs rejected? Why not make a CD with all these rejected songs, have a title which clearly indicates that it is not material from the national finals, plan the release date to coincide with the final and then of course, invite yourself as being the interval act!
This is exactly what Danish actor and stand-up comedian Gordon Kennedy has done. Over the years he has sent in many songs for the Danish finals, but found them all rejected by DR. Should he have had the chance or are they really all not good enough? We’ll soon be able to tell as the plan is to release the CD in relation to the 2007 Danish final held on 10th of February. The title is believed to be Absolut not MGP, which in itself is sure to get a lot of publicity, but furthermore Gordon Kennedy is now mentioned as interval act for the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix final!
DR has not yet released any news regarding interval acts on any of the three Danish shows, but according to DPA, a songwriter union, we will be listening to one or two of Gordon Kennedy’s rejected songs during the voting time in the 2007 Danish final.
