Thomas Hall, event manager for the Melodifestivalen, told to SVT News Culture that they would never have achieved those numbers without the amazing presenters, artists and music. The measurement will be adjusted slightly in the coming week, he ad.

The peak of the night came at the moment when a shocked Robin Stjernberg was proclaimed winner; at that point 4.3 million of Swedes watched Gina Dirawi announcing the results. This is the best viewing figure in the whole history of the show.

SVT can’t be happier, after adding the viewing numbers of the four heats, the second chance and the final, this year’s national selection is the most watched Melodifestivalen ever with 21.7 million viewers overall and collecting over SEK 7.4 million for Radiohjälpen (charity).

Last Saturday Robin Stjernberg won the ticket to Malmö with his pop entry You and will represent Sweden in home soil on 18May.
