The BBC press department has confimed that they will select their Eurovision Song Contest entry for 2007 in mid-March. Although there is no word on the selection process or whether Making Your Mind Up will once again be used to select the United Kingdom's entry. The selection will however take place live on television.
According to a press statement on the BBC website, "This year will see Europe descend on Helsinki for The Eurovision Song Contest 2007 and, once again, BBC One will be at the core of the action with Sir Terry Wogan, as always, at the helm".
No word has been given about the selection process or possible participants, but the BBC are gearing up for a big television show, so an internal selection of both a singer and song seem out of the question. The press release states "This is Eurovision's 52nd year and it's growing bigger all the time as rumours abound about who'll be representing the UK, with everyone from Morrissey to the Scissor Sisters apparently in the frame. The UK entry will be chosen in mid-March, in a primetime special".
