Tonight at 20.30 CET during the Mooi! Weer de leeuws show on Dutch television, the world will find out who will represent the Netherlands at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. The show is hosted by Paul de Leeuw, the famous results reader for the Netherlands last year.
As reported earlier this week by esctoday.com, Paul de Leeuw,a true Eurovision Song Contest enthusiast, and Dutch vote-reader at this year's competitionin Athens, will announce the name of the artist who will be going to Helsinki on behalf of the Netherlands.
So who will it be? Someone new or someone from the past? And how will the song be selected? Internal selection or televoting? The Netherlands' last real 'success' at Eurovision was qualifying from the 2004 semi with Re-Union's "Without You", but despite coming 6th in the semi, they fell to just 20th in the final. The Netherlands failed to qualify both in 2005 with Glennis Grace, despite being a favourite, and in 2006 with Treble's "Amambanda". The last time a Dutch entry was in the final top 10 was back in 1999, when Marlayne sang "One Good Reason" in Jerusalem. Whoever is selected to go to Helsinki will be looking to turn this recent run of bad results around!
Stay tuned for more news as it comes in!
