'Music mogul' Simon Cowell is going to launch a pan-European talent show to search the next top star. He is currently creating a continental version of his succesful British show The X-Factor that is supposed to see the talent search broadcast all over Europe at the same time. Then all the winners would compete in a final to fight for the overall victory.

An insider reported through contactmusic.com: 'To use a soccer analogy, we are currently the Premiership and it would be the European Champions League. This would be the biggest prize in TV history and 100 million would watch the final.'

It is obvious that the show would be similar to the Eurovision Song Contest. Nevertheless, we should keep in mind that Simon Cowell is looking for the best singer while the Eurovision competition is actually searching for the best song. In December 2003, a similar show was broadcast: All international winners of Pop Idol competed in the show World Idol. Simon Cowell is one of the judges (and the owner) of the Brisith and the US-American version.

Do you think that such a show would attract more viewers than the Eurovision Song Contest? Have your say!
