TeliaSonera, the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic regions, will be the principal sponsor and presenting partner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki. The company was forned from a merger between the former national telecommunications companies from Sweden and Finland.

TeliaSonera has been granted extensive pan-European event, association, media and new media rights for the upcoming events. Mr Juho Lipsanen, the president of TeliaSonera Finland said : “We are proud to be the principal sponsor and presenting partner of the Eurovision Song Contest. Especially after the Finnish victory in 2006 this is a great opportunity to benefit from the attention surrounding such a large international event.”

Mr Lipsanen is confident that the company’s experience in large-scale and technically challenging events will help them build an extraordinary event. He promises the Eurovision fans that TeleSonera will make it possible for them to participate digitally in the greatest music party in 2007.”

TeliaSonera, according to the Dec. 2005 report, has 19.146.000 mobile customers and 7.064.000 fixed telephony customers. They employ 28,175 people and they are listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Their net sales January-December 2005 amounted to SEK 87.7 billion.
