Fun Club (OGAE Moldova) tonight confirmed to esctoday.com that Moldovan broadcaster, Teleradio Moldova, are now actively seeking applications for participants in a national final to select a 2007 Eurovision Song Contest entry! An advertisement was aired on their primary television station with a deadline of Sunday 10th December to submit entries.

TRM, who only decided to submit an application to the EBU to enter the competition in the final hours before the November 15th deadline, are still far from confirmed as a participant at the contest, but they are now actively making plans to compete. The broadcaster decided after Moldova's poor result in Athens that they would withdraw from the competition. No budget was allocated for participation in 2007 and it seemed certain that Moldova would be absent from Helsinki. A wave of publicity changed the position of the broadcaster, and an application to enter was submitted, although they are still free to withdraw until the beginning of January without penalty.

TRM will decide once and for all whether to participate once the EBU settles on the fees for participation, but there is at least growing hope for Moldovan fans that they will be represented at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.

From conversations so far with TRM and OGAE Moldova,esctoday.com understandsthat still no budget exists for participation, however the fact that an advertisement has been created and broadcast clearly shows that TRM is planning for participation and will at least attempt to find the budget to participate. Whether they can meet the costs required will not be known until the final list of participants is published by the EBU in early January.
