Muhsin Yildirim, head of the Turkish ESC delegation is quoted as saying that various online rumours about artist negotiations are false. Yildrim however did confirm that once TRT's internal selection of an artist is completed, a song will be chosen without "placing any restrictions on musical styles, it will come down to the chosen performer or performers." Similarly, the language of the song will be based on the act chosen and their preference/comfort.

Earlier this month, esctoday.com reported on Kemal Shahin who has evidence suggesting that TRT are actively seeking names for their shortlist.Another name linked to Turkey, Demir Demirkan was also discounted after his management team denied that he had been approached to write an entry or was in any way connected to the TRT committee working to select the artist or song.

In 2006 Sibel Tüzün finished 11th in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest with Superstar, narrowly missing automatic qualification for the 2007 final. Thus Turkey will compete in the 2007 semi-final on 10th May.
