Latvian broadcaster, LTV, has confirmed to esctoday.com that in total, 103 songs were submitted for Eirodizesma 2007. Songs have been submitted in several languages, including Latvian, Russian, Swedish, English, Spanish and Finnish! A special pre-selection jury will tomorrow begin checking that the songs meet the selection criteria before reducing the number of entries to 20.

Reports yesterday surfaced that 101 songs had been entered for Latvian selection for 2007. Two further songs were added to the list after arriving in the regular postal mail this morning, bringing the true number to 103, a new record number of entries for the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest winning nation.

Starting tomorrow, a specially created preselection jury will begin analysing the entries. They will be checking that the songs conform to the rules and are supported by the correct documentation. After that process is finished, the jury will select a shortlist of 20 songs that will make up the Eirodziesma 2007 semi finalists.

Latvia will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final on 10th May in Helsinki after Cosmos finished in 16th place with 30 points in 2006.
