It was only this morning when Denmarks Radio finally announced Copenhagen as the 2014 host city, but Jan Lagermand Lundme, Head of Show, has revealed more information about the next edition of Europe’s Favorite TV Show.
According to the Head of Show, Danish Broadcaster main goal will be modernize the contest, still respecting all the traditions, and produce a spectacular show focused con the storytelling and the people taking part on it rather than the amount of confetti ordered.
It seems that DR has learned from Sveriges Television and will follow its steeps getting the performers, audience and viewers even closer to Eurovision Song Contest. After attending to the contest in recent years, Jan Lagermand Lundme said to have noticed the importance of the competition to the singers and that’s something they will take in count when they’re producing the shows. We want to show how much there is at stake for them and their country when they take part. We want emotions at the forefront, he adds.
Mr. Lagermand also explained the intention of getting rid of the postcards, not literally, and produce portraits of the contestants instead. Their intention is the viewers to get to know the person who is about to perform on stage and create a bound with them.
Who will be hosting?
Choosing the host(s) is one of the most important decisions, after selecting the host city and venue. We often go after presenters that are good company and that the viewers want to party with. Also, it should be someone that has personality and something to offer, said DR’s head of show. Next year’s host will be announced before the 1st Semi-final, he joked.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will be held at the B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen on 6, 8 and 10 May.
