Evridiki (who has represented Cyprus five times in the past) and her significant other singer, composer Dimitris Korgialas stated to Greek OK! magazine that they feel extremely honoured that their fans would wish to see them reprsent Cyprus in Helsinki.

Evridiki has represented Cyprus five times, three times as a backing vocalist and twice as the lead singer. 1983 she sang with Stavros and Constantina on the song I agapi achoma zi, finishing in 16th place. In 1986 she sang withElpidaon the song Tora zo, finishing in last place with 4 points. She returned the following year with Alexia, reaching her highest finishing position to date with the song Aspro-mavro, which came a credible 7th with 80 points. She then went on to represent Cyprus twice in her own right with the songs Teriazoume in 1992 and Ime anthropos ke ego two years later, finishing 11th on both occasions.

The popular couple said that they have received no official proposal from CyBC yet but “they already have a good song ready for the occasion”.

In the meantime, while most broadcasters have given at least an indication of their intentions for 2007, CyBC arekeeping their plans well under their hat. The timing indicates that CyBC will select the artist internally once more as there is practically no time anymore for a nationwide competition. It is certain that CyBC is fully aware that the Eurovision Song Contest is much more demanding than it used to be and that they are determined to do their best to face up to the challenge. Reliable information indicates that certain proposals have been made to artists but nothing will be disclosed until it has been officially approved by the CyBC Board of Directors.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
